The Happy Herb Company closely monitors the national bodies that legislate and regulate plants, medicines and drugs. If we don’t like what they are suggesting, we are always very active in researching the issue, writing submissions, and advertising the proposed change through our networks.
For example, when the federal government tried to make thousands of plant species illegal (including all the native acacias), 8000 email submissions to the Attorney General were sent through our website. This resulted in the proposed law being dropped!
Many of the projects and organisations that we support in this category are aligned with our company mission, which is to promote the appreciation, information, benefits, culture, use, and availability of all natural plants and herbs.
We are the major sponsor of the Plant Freedom Alliance - an independent community organisation dedicated to human beings' right to the knowledge of and access to all plants of the Earth.

We are passionate about drug law reform because we believe that the quest for inebriation is a basic drive in many animals, perhaps none more so than humans. Thus 'harm minimisation' is a key concept; HHC founder Ray Thorpe's vision is a properly informed public using safe non-addictive plants for medicine and recreation. Compare this to the current reality, where alcohol, tobacco and chemicals are consumed on a massive scale every weekend, while criminal gangs make huge profits from tax-free illicit markets.
The Australian government's approach to this issue flies in the face of world legal and professional opinion. In fact many governments and leading experts around the world are recommending the repeal of prohibitive drug laws. It's high time we had a policy of regulation rather than prohibition, because if something is illegal then there's no regulation at all, and this puts people at risk.
The Happy Herb Company supports the following organisations and political parties for their dedicated work for drug law reform. We are also excited to be supporting the emerging Drug Law Reform Foundation:
