This is the season of good cheer.
I happen to be in Thailand at the moment finishing my new book, The Way Of The Herbal Warrior. I will let you know when it’s ready for distribution.
However I will be back in Australia to enjoy the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
While in Thailand, I heard a European say, “If you want to see craziness just be around new years in Australia, they go crazy!”
I guess they do but I thought everyone went a little bit crazy on New Year’s Eve all over the world. Perhaps that’s just the cultural norm that we have grown up within Australia.
And then something came up about a celebration in Australia on New Year’s Day and somebody else from overseas said that is a good idea to have a celebration on New Year’s Day because nobody is doing anything and they’re all hungover. I guess that maybe true as well.
However no matter what you’re doing on New Year’s Eve, whether you’re taking legal, or even illegal, drugs (including alcohol which is the most commonly used inebriant), it is best to prepare your body beforehand to minimize all risks associated.
Harm Reduction for Holiday Celebrations
So if you want to have a good time as well as protecting your liver to save a hangover, please take a dose of MILK THISTLE beforehand.
A healthy dose of milk thistle (I recommend it as powdered form in capsules or our great What Hangover? formula) protects your liver, so you won’t suffer a hangover and you’ll feel great in the morning. If you forget to do this before consuming, then have a big dose of MILK THISTLE in the morning and you will feel better within an hour.
How does milk thistle work this magic? Silymarin, an extract from the seed, acts on the membranes of the liver cells preventing the entry of virus toxins and other toxic compounds, thus preventing damage to the cells. It also dramatically improves liver regeneration in hepatitis, cirrhosis, mushroom poisoning and other diseases of the liver.
Before I knew this trick I always suffered hangovers. Back then my friends would say the only good thing about a hangover is as the day passes you feel better and better each hour.
This maybe the case, although some people can suffer alcohol poisoning for days and most of us know that from our teenage experiences–we learn the hard way!
The other good rule when drinking alcohol is to only have a glass of alcohol when alternated with a glass of water, or even soda water. I have noticed that if I do this while drinking bubbly I hardly notice the difference between alcohol and water, and after a while the soda water is actually more refreshing.
So whatever poison you choose to have on NYE please do not abuse it and take the necessary steps for harm reduction! A great place to start is by protecting your liver with MILK THISTLE and water, then enjoying a healthy, safe and happy celebration!
Sending you all lots of love and happiness as we move forward into 2020.
